Ostella Bay Rose
Sire: The Sonic Boom
Pedigree:
Rose is the
tallest mare of our herd being 15.3 hands and she is also strong and solid built.
This makes Rose an interesting mare to cross with the more refined modern
bloodlines without loosing the strength and weight carrying bones. Rose
is a Heritage Outcross meaning one of her parents is Heritage certified.
In this case her mother: Taylor's Merry Bell who resides in Texas.
Rose is born and raised in the hills of
Tennessee. Soon after she was broke to ride Rose was used as working
horse on the ranch. Because of her qualities as a using horse, Rose
became a broodmare for some years. We acquired Rose in foal to Paint's
Cotton, a black and white spotted stallion of 16 hands and exported her
to Europe in December '04.
After her arrival in Europe it appears
Rose is not only traumatized but she also couln't handle the change of
continent, climate, smell, language etc. We put her together with
Wolfie in a
paddock who was in heaven with his new friend. In Wolfie Rose finds her
comfort and support but it takes a whole lot longer till she refinds her
trust in human. Specially man are her biggest fear. Rose appears to have
issues giving her feet which had big consequenses with the farriers in
teh US. I decide to have a different approach: doing nothing!
Rose her hindfeet are untouched for 2 years.
Needless to say we do monitor extreme damage but other than that we
leave her alone. 3 years after her arrival Rose gives her hindfeet and
our farrier trimmed her several times already. Meanwhile Rose found her
place in our herd and is feeling right at home. Her fear for man has
diminished. From hiding behind her friend when people tried to connect
with her, she will now approach strangers to introduce herself. Time to
start working with her on a more serious base.

In June '05 Rose had a colorful delivery. We named this
black tobiano
studcolt Pleasure's Favorite Oreo. After weaning Oreo went to his new owner here in
Belgium.

Born on May 28th, 2006: Pleasure's Ltd. Edition,
barnname L.E. (Elly)
Rose delivered a healthy bay filly without markings.
Sire is Chinook, a black stallion from Switzerland (Canadian
import). Both mother and daughter are doing excellent! L.E. moved to Denmark
after weaning. She is Denmark's first Tennessee Walker and we are proud
shewill be the ambassendor of the breed up North.

After a break of 1 year we bred Rose to our
stallion Potter. She is safe in foal and we are looking forward to her
baby in May 2008. Meanwhile Potter and Rose live together in both
paddock and pasture. On May 13, 2008 Rose delivered a healthy Amber
Champagne studcolt.
