Our horses
Horses are herd animals. We learned from experience
that horses prefer to share a paddock than to be separated in a stall. This made
us decide to extend each stall with a paddock that gives room to 2 adult horses or
a mare with foal. Each paddock has a sand area, a shelter with concrete floor and
a stall with flax straw. The hayrack, water trog, feed bowl and mineral block are
spread across the paddock in order to keep the horses moving around. Next to that
our horses have access to the pasture for 4 to 6 hours a day. Manure is removed
daily to avoid weed and worm infections. This is our way of keeping our horses as
natural as possible and to strive for a pleasant partnership.
The boys
Pleasure's
Pot o' Gold
This georgous looking stallion
joined our herd in August 2005.
Out of The Pride Piper, a very popular breeding
stallion among pleasure riders combined with Western Walking Horse
bloodlines and authentic foundation champagne color on the dam side resulted in
this shiny golden appearance. Potter is officially at stud
since
2006.
Pleasure's
Eternal Flame
Ravi (= friend) is a son of Lilly and born in 2005. He is the first out
of the combination of 2 European Heritage horses; Red Bud's Last Lady x
Tsuniah's H.B. from Switzerland. Started in 2009, Ravi is my personal
riding mount. He has 2 offspring.
Pleasure's
Flamin
Sambuca
A familiar face! Sam is Ravi's son and his spitting image.
Breedingprogram
Breeding means much more to us than just producing
foals. We feel it is key to set the quality standard high in order to realize a
successful future for the Tennessee Walking Horse in Europe and keeping it.
In our breeding program we want to preserve the
original characteristics of the Walking Horse since this is the reason why the
breed excists in the first place. Keywords: Strong, versatile, smart, people
orientated, smooth, willingness to work. Our mares have been carefully selected
and are all imported from the USA. We often travel to the US ourselves to search
for horses. Our criteria is based on gaits, conformation,
bloodlines and disposition. In order to create a diversity of bloodlines in Europe
we import our mares in foal to an American Walking Horse stallion. We match each mare with
a stallion based on the same selection + (very important) the combination with that specific mare.
As with many breeds, the looks of the Walking Horse
has changed over the years in order to fit the demand of the market. The sturdy
look had to make room for more elegance and style. The modern American show horse
often also has more power and exhibits more lateral movement. This doesn't help
the 'newcomers' to the breed riding these gaited horses. 1 way to breed back to
the original Walker-type is to breed with old pleasure bloodlines. These are not
that easy to find nowadays and we do sometimes combine these rare, old lines with
modern blood of which a calm and willing disposition together with natural gaits
is a must.
Above criteria combined with a good socialization and
training has been a proven success formula for us in raising a social horse for
the whole family; a Tennessee Walker with a gentle disposition, smooth gaits for
hours of trail riding and plenty of expression and gait to compete at European
shows.
The girls
Bullet's
Secret Affair
Secret has old 'pleasure TWH' bloodlines all over her papers and comes from Middle Tennessee.
This mare is a Heritage Outcross with Bud's Sterling Bullet as sire. Her gaits
are very nice, she walks and racks as well when asked for, being very
smooth in all her gaits. Secret was purchased in 2000 and bred
to Got Rox Wolfman before she came to Belgium.
Red
Bud's Last Lady
Talking about heritage bloodlines! Lilly is the last offspring out of Red Bud's Rascal and still has foundation horses on her pedigree (marked with F-).
Her sire belonged to the Oliver family during his entire life
(30+). Lilly proofs her natural ability both in front
of a carriage and under saddle. She arrived in July '03.
Lilly her bloodlines and other qualities made her the most important and valuable
mare in our breeding program.
-
Ostella Bay Rose
- Again a bay mare and no, this was not on purpose.
This beautiful mare was acquired during our '04
trip in the USA. Rose has worked as a ranch horse for a year and delivered 2 nice
foals before being exported to Europe in foal to Pain't Cotton.
Rose is also a Heritage Outcross but from her dam side: Taylor's Merry
Belle.
Boomtown's
Lucky Strike
Spirit keeps crossing our path!
This mare has been at our place in 2004 after her arrival from the USA. Back then
it was just for a break before her journey to France continued. When her
owners had to move back to the USA, we were asked to take care of the
horses. Due to a crowded stable we had to sell her and now Spirit is
with us once more.
Echo's
Lady Bug Allen
A
beautiful Heritage mare with a striking color; bay sabino. We expect her
in Europe in 2010. Her bloodlines trace back to pleasure horses like
Paige's Echo and Mark's Cracker Jack. A great asset to our breeding
program!
Paloma
EWT
Not a Tennessee Walking Horse but certainly appreciated a lot; this 9
year old Peruvian Paso joined our herd in July 2009.
Echo's
Nancy J
A
half sister to our Beetle will join our herd in November 2009. This 4
year old Heritage mare is green broke and will be trained. In the future
we will also use her for breeding. Lulu is a black sabino.
Mountain
View's Bungee
Bungee joined our herd in March 2010. She was looking for a job as a
riding horse and we had a job vacant. This pretty Rocky Mountain
Horse/Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse mare will please many people with
her smooth gaits.
Followed closely
Pleasure's
Walkin Jazz
Amber champagne son of Potter and our mare Rose. Very promising gaitwise
with a gentle and soft disposition.
Can-Am's
Honor & Respect
Honor is born and raised in Canada. Her bloodlines are a mixture of Canadean Walkers
on top with the well known Calvin Miller lines on the bottom tracing
back till the 40ies. Honor moved to her new home in July 2009 in foal to
Potter for a 2010 baby.
Sterling's
Dusty Rose
A Heritage outcross, arrived in 2008 in foal to the Heritage TWH Red Bud's Rambling
Slim.
Pleasure´s
Delihla
A
daughter of our stallion Pleasure´s Pot o´ Gold. Lehla is born in 2007.
Royal
Ivory's Jenster
Still young and unexperienced but promising! Jenster arrived in October
2008 in foal by US Heritage stallion Society's Dan Allen.
Lady
Ann's Grisette
When this half sister of Secret came available we didn't hesitate at all
since we are so pleased with this mare. Krizett flew over from the
States in her dams belly and has lived on German surface since
childhood.
Pleasure's
DreamCatcher
Wolfie was the only gelding in this colorful herd. He's a
very playful horse, loves attention and is always in a good mood. His
sire is WGC Got Rox Wolfman, TWHBEA Model Champion. Wolfie was not so lucky the
first few years of his life and has seen many vets. Still, he matured into a
wonderful sweet horse and is very well gaited. He proved you can achieve anything
if you really want it. In 2005 Wolfie moved to his current owner but he will
always keep that special place in my heart.
