The first moves in the new pasture. 1.2 ha (3 acres) fenced area right next to a wood of pine trees. Ravi are Bud are full brothers born in '05 and '06. They have not shared a pasture before and in order to introduce them slowly we decided to put their dam Lilly with them. She can protect the 'weakest' if necessary. The first photo session was made within minutes after we put the horses together. Even though Lilly had not shown any 'care taking' behaviour towards the youngest colt Bud, she immediately took over her task as protective mother when Ravi was too excited and too curious.
After a few minutes Lilly made clear who was in charge and every one started to settle down. Each horse started to roll over, initiated by Lilly. They urinated and went to the water trog to drink some; all was safe and well! Dam Lilly stayed with her youngsters for 1 week. Meanwhile Bud his curiousity took over of his fear for his big brother so Lilly could go back to the other mares. The colts are having the time of their lives ever since, enjoying their new pasture and playmate
